DANCE WORLD STUDIOS would like to welcome all new applications and expressions of interest in our TEEN PROGRAMS, ideal for students aged 13 years old plus (as at January 1 of each year). With over 20 years in dance & entertainment, we take pride in the high standard of training offered to students by our distinguished and qualified teaching faculty. Students are encouraged to explore their talents under the instruction of qualified industry professionals whose experience in a variety of dance and performing arts styles is second to none. Classes are conducted in our fully equipped studios and are available in both group and one–on-one sessions. The Teen Programs offer students the option of attending the following classes on a casual basis:

PART TIME COURSES

In keeping with our commitment to offer students quality education in the Performing Arts, Dance World Studios is also offering part-time courses to young students with a vocational focus:


The part-time courses are designed for students who concurrently undertake secondary education or are thinking of pursuing formal dance & vocal training. It specifically concentrates on combining and developing both the vocal and dance disciplines of performance, affording students greater versatility on completion of the course. Employing the resources of Dance World's established full-time dance courses, students benefit from lecturers whose national and international reputations in theatre, television and stage are second to none.

AUDITIONS

Auditions are held on our South Melbourne campus. Download the Application Form or contact our office for more details. Applicants residing in remote and country areas or interstate may audition by video submission. Selection is made on physical facility, including co-ordiantion, and the potential to pursue a career in the music industry and / or the performing arts.

PERFORMANCES

Students will be required to participate in at least 3 performances. Invitations will be extended to all parents, industry and friends. Students will be graded according to their artistic development and ability to apply the course material in a live performance context.

7 fully equipped and spacious dance studios 
Vocal training rooms

FOUNDATION PROGRAM in DANCE
Course starts: February 2012

40 weeks
Course starts: February 2011
Saturdays Training Days: Part-time on Saturdays
Some units may be conducted during the school holiday weeks. Solo vocal lessons (elective) may be scheduled at mutually convenient times.

Entry is by audition. Minimum age: 13 years old as at 1 Jan 2012 (birth certificates need to be sighted). Some dance training experience is necessary. Vocal experience is an advantage. Limited places are available. 

CURRICULUM 

The course curriculum focuses on artist development. Although students are provided with the technical foundations of dance and vocal technique, they are encouraged to identify their own distinctive qualities and originality through artistic expression. Dance units include: jazz dance, classical ballet, hip-hop dance, tap, musical theatre. General units include: Industry knowledge, safe dance, first aid, dance history, stagecraft, performance and plan a career. Electives include: solo vocals, acrobatics, acitng and stretch & gymnastics.

FOUNDATION PROGRAM in PERFORMING ARTS

Course starts: February 2012

40 weeks
Training Days: Part-time basis - Saturday all day & one weeknight from 4.45pm. Solo vocal lessons & recording sessions may be scheduled at mutually convenient times.

Entry is by audition. Minimum age: 14 years old as at 1 Jan 2012 (birth certificates need to be sighted). Some dance training experience is necessary. Vocal experience is an advantage. Limited places are available.

CURRICULUM

The course curriculum focuses on artist development. Although students are provided with the technical foundations of dance and vocal technique, they are encouraged to identify their own distinctive qualities and originality through artistic expression. Dance & allied core units include: jazz dance, classical ballet, hip-hop dance, tap, musical theatre and contemporary dance. General units include: solo vocals, ensemble vocals, vocal repertoire, acting, stagecraft, performance and plan a career. Electives include: music industry knoweldge, acrobatics, copyright requirements, performance psychology and develop an image.
